After the company experienced outages and performance problems in North America, Amazon.com crashed yet again blocking seven out of ten customers from accessing Amazon’s homepage. However, users who did access the homepage had to endure slower access and download speeds. Amazon users usually download in seven seconds or less, but during the temporary suspension of operation download speeds were largely reduced causing a time out for some Web browsers.
Indeed, despite their best efforts, the complexity of Amazon’s systems may still experience problems and breakdowns. Amazon.com attracts over 58 million visitors in the United States alone; thus, it draws massive quantities of traffic and money. I wonder what will be the impact on their sales from this major blackout.
